Tilden Project Nepal
When I visited Nepal two years ago to take pictures for the Tilden Project Nepal fundraising calendar (www.tildenprojectnepal.org.uk) a little girl called Tej Kumari Poudel decided that she would take it upon herself to look after me. For the whole week she followed me round laughing and chattering away in Nepalese. Tej is the youngest daughter from one of the poorest famalies in the village, her father is elderly and disabled so the family was dependent upon the mother and eldest daughter.
Tragically the mother and eldest daughter both died when they were caught in a monsoon flash flood last week 6/7/10. So now the son Bindi who is only just 17, and trying to complete his schooling, has responsibility for all of them. With no real income the Poudels's are subsistence farmers, relying upon a small piece of land and a short growing season.
If you think that you could help to support the family with a donation please make cheques payable to Tilden Project Nepal and send them to - TPN c/o Pete Bird, 168 Thirlmere Avenue, Reading, RG30 6XJ.
The charity is going to try to support them until Tej and Nirmala have completed school, Tej is 9 years old now, so its quite a commitment.
Thanks if you can.
